Why have I never heard this? : Pavement - Space Ghost Theme 2

Why have I never heard this? : Pavement - Space Ghost Theme 2

So, I've been writing this article about Space Ghost - Coast to Coast and how influential it's been on animated comedy, but the more I wrote the bigger it got.  It's a story that can go wide pretty damn quick, and it's hard to know exactly where and when to end it.  It's taking me some time basically.

So, anyway, while we're waiting for me to actually finish writing that...

Space Ghost - Coast to Coast was a weekly late night cartoon for adults.  Space Ghost (once an actual hero in his own kid's show, years earlier) was re-purposed and became a talk-show host.  He interviewed guests remotely, by monitor, because he was on Ghost Planet and human celebrities were millions of miles away on Earth.  I'll explain this in the article if I ever finish it.

Anyway, there were - very occassionally - humans actually in the studio, and Pavement were some of them.  Space Ghost had demanded The Beatles; the best his producer could do was Pavement.  Pavement then essentially busked 2 theme tunes for the show.  And this one ended that particular episode and it's amazing.

I swear I'll explain this all to you soon.  In the meantime just rock out to some funked-up indie thrash pop.  It's glorious.

It never got a proper release until a few years ago when it turned up on a compilation album. Which is a very good thing.

Stay tuned for the massive article, I'm getting there.
